Calvert Investments - 2013 Capital Gain Distributions

The Calvert Funds shown in the table below will pay either long- or short-term capital gains distributions in 2013. Each Fund's capital gain distribution is the same across all share classes.

It is important to note that favorable tax rates on long-term capital gains continue to apply in 2013.

  • For individuals earning less than $36,250 ($72,500 for couples), the tax rate on long-term capital gain distributions remains at 0%.
  • For individuals earning $36,250 up to $400,000 ($72,500 up to $450,000 for couples), the tax rate on long-term capital gain distributions remains at 15%.
  • For those whose income exceeds $400,000 ($450,000 for couples), a new 20% rate applies.

*Short-term capital gains are treated as ordinary income and cannot be netted against any capital losses. The payout per share is based on the outstanding shares as of December 4, 2013.

In late January 2014, Calvert will send shareholders Form 1099-DIV, which reports the final amount of taxable dividends and/or capital gains (over $10.00) paid on Calvert Funds. Note that, as always, short-term capital gains will be treated as ordinary income on your tax return and are subject to ordinary income-tax rates.

Following are the key dates that apply to any capital gains distributions from Calvert funds:

  • Record Date: 12/4/13
  • Ex-Dividend Date: 12/5/13
  • Reinvestment Date: 12/5/13
  • Payable Date: 12/6/13

Note that the following Funds will not pay any 2013 capital gains:

  • Calvert Bond Portfolio
  • Calvert Government Fund
  • Calvert Global Alternative Energy Fund
  • Calvert Income Fund
  • Calvert International Equity Fund
  • Calvert International Opportunities Fund
  • Calvert Large Cap Value Fund
  • Calvert Tax-Free Bond Fund
  • Calvert Ultra-Short Income Fund
  • Calvert Short Duration Income Fund
