7/25/2013

Calvert Small Cap Fund was recently ranked in the “Top Five” of U.S. small cap mutual funds by Zacks Investment Research. In including Calvert Small Cap Fund as a “Number 1 Rank” selection, Zacks cites the Portfolio as a “strong buy,” meaning the research firm expects the Portfolio to outperform its peers going forward.

Zacks points out that small cap funds can help diversify your portfolio and may offer high growth potential for investors with a high risk appetite. According to Zacks, small cap funds may be suitable for investors willing to remain invested for longer periods who can withstand high volatility.

Calvert Small Cap Fund’s Investment Objective

The Fund seeks to provide long–term capital appreciation through investment primarily in small–cap common stocks of U.S. companies that meet the Fund's investment criteria, including financial, sustainability, and social responsibility factors and that, at the time of purchase, are considered by the Advisor to be attractively valued.

Outlook for Small Cap Stocks

According to Natalie Trunow, portfolio manager of the fund, small–cap equities may be poised to post better returns than large–caps, driven by healthy earnings and top–line results as well as global merger and acquisition activity. Also, she considers environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues as well as financial factors when selecting stocks for the Fund, and says that these ESG factors could become more prominent as consumers become more aware of their impacts.
