Calvert Investments’ Co-Founder Wayne Silby Inducted Into the Social Venture Network Hall of Fame
SVN Impact Award recognizes those who are changing the business of finance
Mr. Silby will be presented with the SVN Impact Award on November 13th at the Social Venture Network Hall of Fame Celebration at Gotham Hall in New York City. This award is in recognition of these honorees for creating their own, unconventional approach to the business of finance. In this process they have made capital accessible to underserved entrepreneurs and communities, and allowed individuals to make informed, values-driven decisions with their funds.
This event marks SVN's 25th anniversary and acknowledges those who have broken barriers to create enterprises that benefit investors, employees, local communities and the planet.
Wayne Silby is not only a co-founder of Social Venture Network. He is also regarded as a pioneer of social investing. Mr. Silby, along with John Guffey co-founded Calvert in 1976; and then in 1982, he started the Calvert Social Investment Fund —one of the earliest mutual funds dedicated to socially responsible investments. Mr. Silby also serves as Co-Chairman and Finance Committee Chair for the Calvert Foundation.
The other honorees include Josh Mailman, founder of Serious Change LP; Amy Domini, founder of Domini Social Investments; Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank; and Joel Solomon & Carol Newell, co-founders of Renewal Partners.
Since 1987, Social Venture Network (www.svn.org) has been at the forefront of the socially responsible business movement, connecting, leveraging, and promoting a world-class community of more than 550 innovative entrepreneurs working to change the way the world does business and the way that business affects the world. SVN connects the leaders of socially responsible enterprises to share lessons and resources, form strategic alliances, and explore new solutions that build a more just and sustainable economy.
