Investment Objective

The Portfolio seeks investment results that correspond to the total return performance of the bond market, as represented by the Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond Index.

Investment Strategy

The Portfolio seeks to substantially replicate the total return of the securities comprising the Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond Index ("Barclays Index"), taking into consideration redemptions, sales of additional shares, and other adjustments. Under normal circumstances, the Portfolio will invest at least 80% of its assets in investments with economic characteristics similar to the fixed-income securities represented in the Barclays Index.

Important Disclosure

Calvert has agreed contractually to limit direct net annual operating expenses for Calvert VP Investment Grade Bond Index Portfolio through April 30, 2014. This limitation does not limit the acquired fund fees and expenses paid indirectly by a shareholder. Direct net operating expenses for the Portfolio will not exceed 0.60%. Only the Board of Directors of the Portfolio may terminate the Portfolio's expense limitation before the contractual period expires. Under the terms of the contractual expense limitation, operating expenses do not include interest expenses, brokerage commissions, extraordinary expenses and taxes.

Management fees include the advisory fee paid by the Fund to the Advisor, and the administrative fee paid by the Fund to Calvert Investment Administrative Services, Inc., an affiliate of the Advisor.
